Coco. No, Not The Chanel Kind.

Don't you want this glowing skin and hair for yourself too?! The key is in a healthy routine. Victoria's Secret model, Miranda Kerr, attributes her goddess-like glow to an ingredient from Mother Nature herself, coconut oil. I'm a huge fan of using natural skin care ingredients for its affordability and health benefits. After doing some research, I incorporated coconut oil into my own beauty routine. I massaged a tablespoon into my hair, left it on overnight, and washed it out the following morning. I also substituted my usual moisturizer with a few drops of oil.
This is my hair after just one treatment. I can barely keep my hands off! It's incredibly soft and shiny. As for the skin, it felt softer than usual in the morning but it's too soon to tell. So before you reluctantly submit yourself to pounds of shimmer and hairspray, snag yourself a bottle of coco.

The Robert Verdi Show Premiere

Betsey Johnson & Robert Verdi
Miss Jay
Ana Ortiz

Last night, I attended the premiere of Robert Verdi's new reality show at the SVA Theater in NYC. Posing for the flashing lights, were a few recognizables like Betsey Johnson, Miss Jay, and Anna Ortiz- to name a few. After thoroughly scanning the theater for a coworker who wasn't picking up my calls, I plopped myself down into the next empty seat I spotted only to realize that Fern Mallis [Senior VP of IMG Fashion/Creator of NY Fashion Week & judge on Project Runway] was chatting casually a few rows ahead of me. I overheard one lady asking another, "Are you going to be in this episode?" At that point, I carefully observed the people seated around me. I guess they were important? As I was examining my gift bag, comprised of Pirate Booty snacks and a set of Kiehl's products, Miss Jay sauntered over confused on where to sit. I had accidentally stolen his seat. Go me. Luckily my coworker came to the rescue right at that moment.

To start off the evening, Robert himself took to the stage. After garnering a few chuckles from the audience, with his stand-up comedian-esque musings, the show began. I personally felt like the show was far from reality. In a nutshell, its a fashionably gay version of The Office. A lot of the plot was very outlandish and clearly (I hope to God) scripted. I mean, I can't imagine that he actually calls office meetings to order by screeching "BITCHESSSSS!" at the top of his lungs. Besides the misleading label, it was funny and I would watch it for comic relief at the end of a long day. Too bad Logo isn't in my channel line up.

Body Language

Your grandmother's trusty strand of pearls simply do not cut it anymore. Its all about the statement pieces. At the moment, I am absolutely in love with a line of body jewelry that delivers just that. Litter SF's edgy collection features shiny baubles to adorn a seemingly endless list of body parts and there is nothing predictable about any of these pieces. The trick to pulling off this featured look without seeming too garish, is to pair it with very basic styles, essentially putting the jewelry front and center. Pull it together with a tank top and torn jeans to go see your boyfriend perform in his band. A rooftop cocktail party to attend? Top off a basic black shift dress with this piece for a more polished feel.

Love,

C.C.

To-Die-For Heels

You are more than welcome to point that gun in my direction, Mr. Lagerfeld. Who better to rock such killer heels than pop icon Madonna? Is it to-die-for or wouldn't-be-caught-dead-in?

Spotted: Jihye Han In Harem

Harem, is the new skinny jean. There, I said it. When skinny jeans first appeared on the front line of fashion, many women were quite wary of this new look. Fast forward to 2009, most women own at least one pair. I predict the same kind of phenomenon here. It should, however, come with a warning label. While its baggy silhouette may initially seem more forgiving of a woman's curves, that notion may be deceiving. Ladies with wide hips may accentuate them in the most unflattering of ways if not cautious. Leave the pair with tons of beautiful draping to the size zero models and opt for subtle pleating instead. With that being said, if pulled off properly, harem pants capture an effortless elegance. They come in a wide range of shapes and fabrics that vary from extremely edgy to office friendly versions. Actress, Jihye Han is wearing an option that is perfect for those who are testing out the waters. Silence & Noise makes an affordable version for those looking to purchase a similar pair. Take risks fashion lovers!

That's What She Said

In a recent episode of The Fit, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe shared these words of fashion wisdom in reference to a fabulously encrusted oversized bag she was rocking on one of her heavily bangled arms. It was her expert take on how to pull off such a show stopping piece with an effortless demeanor. Advice well taken Miss Zoe!

THE RUNWAY: Balmain

If I had to choose but one designer for my fall wardrobe, I would not hesitate in my selection. Channeling glam, rocker-chic vibes, Balmain's Christophe Decarnin has captured every twenty something woman's desire to pull off edgy with a undeniably feminine twist. Although almost every look in its fall line was the stuff of dreams, these looks were my top 5 picks. The September issue of Harper's Bazaar features an article about actress Carrie Fisher's thoroughly enviable experience wearing the "It" item of the fashion moment, Balmain's signature peak-shoulder jacket.

Here Comes The Dress

It's wedding season and you are cordially invited. Although upstaging the bride is discouraged, leave the worst dressed list to the bridesmaids. The zigzag designs delicately woven into the fabric and the exposed zipper subtly incorporates a surprisingly edgy element to this feminine frock. The ruffle adds some oomph up top to enhance any curves, or lack there of. The best part? The banded empire waistline leaves a little room for an extra slice of cake. Accessorize with a simple double stranded necklace dotted with golden beads and a chunky bracelet made of braided gold chain and crystal. A cream handbag, lightly etched with a golden floral design, and an ivory cocktail ring ties in the cream and gold color palette to create a perfectly balanced aesthetic. Complete the look with statement shoes; a glittering pair of peep toe pumps will have any fashionista dancing the night away on cloud nine.

Fashion In The Wonderland

What girl wouldn't want to relive her childhood in a dress fit for a modern day Alice? Headbands are still very much in vogue and the oversized satin bow held in place by a glimmering pendant channels sweet innocence. Accessorize with some stunning clover shaped studs and a bracelet that adds extravagance to this otherwise simple look. With a heart shaped purse slung across your shoulders, slip your feet into a comfortable pair of flats, delightfully adorned with frothy rosettes, and set out for a storybook-esque adventure. This whimsical look is perfect for afternoon tea at Alice's Tea Cup.

Sweet Simplicity.

Who says style has to be time consuming? Rompers are the effortlessly stylish solution for ladies on the go. In a neutral tone that looks amazing with all skin tones, this romper is easy to compliment with most accessories, regardless of color. Details such as the intricate cut out on the neckline and buttons along the back, add elegance to this girlish ensemble. Platinum sequined pumps add oomph while still maintaining a neutral color palette, leaving room to add just a touch of color with a pale pink clutch. The gold bracelet looks just like a pretty trinket you would find in your mother's jewelry box. This look is perfect for a spontaneous lunch with a friend.

Color Is The New Black

Black clothing will unfailingly exude style no matter how its worn but there's no time like summer to challenge this classic rule of thumb. Take some inspiration from the brightly colored flowers in bloom and experiment with your color palette. This look is perfect for the colorshy because it utilizes black as a contrast, allowing the colors to pop without overwhelming the eyes. The combination of the geometric design of the skirt with the feminine sweetheart neckline found in the tank top makes for a visually balanced presentation. The exposed zipper running down the back of the skirt adds a surprisingly edgy element, taking the whole look up another notch. To complete the outfit, the sleek design of the sandals are consistent with the geometric lines of the skirt, while the slight wedge adds some height sans the discomfort of full on heels. This flirty look is perfect for a night out.

Love,
C.C.
